Turn it Off or Mute It!

Ever been in the middle of a test and out of no where someone's cell phone rings disturbing your concentration?

Wouldn't that annoy you?

These occurrences disrupt your peers and proves the cell phone bans in class, right.  Things may be different if we all learned to practice constraint and common sense.  Ruin for you, ruin for all.

Most teenagers would deny that they use their cell phones continually, but its a fact most teens use their cell phones during instructional hours.  Even if they are caught, it does not deter them from continuing to text and use their cell phone during class.

This however, only affects them, they're not getting the education they need in order to succeed, causing them to fail their classes or even worst distracting other people that actually want to keep up with their class.  On the other hand we all know its no harm to own a cell phone, they can also be very helpful indeed especially when theres an emergency we need to know about our families or a way for people to contact you more easily.

Ever get stuck in on a research project, no ideas, no inspiration, no direction for what you want to do?

Probably everybody has gone through the same situation before.  However, not very many realize that there are tools that can make  this daunting task, simple.

1. Give yourself enough time to do research, finding useful articles, journals, or books will make the task of writing a research paper that much easier.

2. Avoid using Wikipedia as a source of information, at the same time, Wikipedia is can be used for ideas and jump start your research path.

3. Ask the librarian to give you some advice for free databases that may have information you can use, or how to utilize the library search to find books that relate to your topic.

4. Lastly, when in doubt, ask someone for help.  Clarification, restatement or the mere fact of hearing someone else explain the task to you may help you understand the prompt or directions clearly.

Study With Music!

Studies have shown that studying while listening to music is beneficial to assist students engagement in an activity and relieve stress.

However each person has a different taste and a different ways of studying, for some, rote memorization is most practical, while for others it may be easier for them to learn through examples and questions.

Not all music genres work for this practice of music and studying.

For example, listening to Metallica or heavy metal music while studying will probably not relieve your stress or engagement in your studies.

Music that may work for improving your concentration while studying or reading are: Bob Marley, classical music, or music genre that carry a slower beat and "lighter" sound.  It will help to relieve stress, so you can concentrate more on what you are studying.

Good luck!

Leave Your Attitude at the Door

Posted by: mirian

The widely excepted, but unspoken method of keeping a job and maintaining a neutral relationship with peers is be POSITIVE, be a plus to have around and not a negative someone wants to remove.

Personal problems is not everyone's problem, so leave it at home, don't come to work with a bad attitude.  Don't take your anger out on others.  Inability to maintain your emotions is a concern to your boss and others, be open to your boss about problems that you feel will affect your quality of work.  Create an understanding between you and co-workers, practice methods to calm yourself.

Meditate.  Excersize.  See a therapist.

Check your attitude at the door and pick it up after work.  Practice makes perfect, right?

Importance of Responsibility

Posted by: mirian

Ever wondered how people get so far in life? How they become successful?  Responsibility is key, it goes beyond just the responsibility we have with taking care of siblings, chores its about being responsible for yourself and what you do - responsibility means you have self-determination to succeed.

Most of us who recently graduated or still going to school don't think about the idea that they probably won't be working at the same place for the rest of their lives that employment is a method of moving up in the ladder of success.

Responsibility is a habit one should learn growing up.  Task like chores, homework and projects builds up responsibility and other qualities that are valuable in obtaining jobs and keeping one.   Little tasks, such as, doing homework before watching TV, making the bed, and cleaning up the room.
