People and Courtesy

a little monster with a mean face

When we are little we are raised to say "thank you" and "please" whenever we need something or are given something. Even as adults we tell our children to say those magic words, but how much of this do we actually follow?  Many would say that we do not do this as often as we should. There have been people who are rude most of the time. There are reasons why a person is rude to other people. The most common reason why people are rude is because they have had a bad day at work or because someone has been rude to them initially.

What about those people who are just plain out rude? Who has ever gone to a restaurant and see people hogging a table doing things such as their bills when there are other people waiting for the tables to clear up? What can we say about them? The only explanation is that they are too busy to do their bills at any other time of the day. But what if that person is using up a table of four when its only one individual? Either they are being rude or are not concious that there are other people who are hungry and who also have a busy life. A better solution to that is for them to get a table for two.

What can be done to avoid being rude to a rude person is:

Avoid dealing with vulgar people where possible.

If you cannot avoid them take charge of conversations. You need to ensure you remain strong and unaffected by their manner.

Look beyond their words to the real message they are trying to convey.

We all have a bad day now and again maybe you just bumped into them while they were stuck at a low point.
