Good Attitude vs. Bad Attitude

Posted by: mirian

Attitude: Manner,disposition, position, feeling.

You have probably heard of attitude problems, however attitude is not always a negative thing, in some cases attitude is what takes a person to success in achieving their goals.   When a person perseveres, works hard and stays optimistic, that person is said to have a POSITIVE attitude.  However, not everyone can have a positive attitude, there are those who have are said to have short tempers and impatience.  These people are said to have a NEGATIVE attitude.  A bad attitude can affect social, personal and professional life.  A person with a good attitude is often stress free and is more likely to succeed in what they want.  While a person a negative attitude, is more likely to fail at achieving their goals or it might even affect his or her social life.

Being Bilingual is an Advantage

Posted by: mirian

Most people who are successful in their lives (i.e. personal and professional) are people who speak two or more languages, especially if its a community related career.  Community related job opportunities will require interaction among different groups of people who speak different languages, it would be advantageous to have the skill to speak to community members in their native language.  Most companies are going to need people that speak two or more languages to satisfy the costumers need.

Also, people who are bilingual have advantages such as: cognitive benefits, ability to learn additional languages, and more.  Many words are built upon other words, there are prefixes and suffixes and the roots of words are most often universal in many languages.  Besides having cognitive advantages, people who are bilingual have character advantages,  the option to switch between different languages and cultures.

Interview Mistakes? No Problem.

Posted by: mirian

As you start to look for jobs, one of the few things that your potential employer may require from you is to go through an interview process.  In an interview, the employer might ask you questions like: what do you believe is your weakest skill, what do you believe is your strongest skill, what experience do you have in the work field and so on.

In addition, it is not rare for interviewees to feel anxious, nervous and fearful.  However, these are most often the reason behind why people do not do well in interviews.  The worst and most common mistake you can ever make is to arrive late, this can give the interviewer a bad impression of you. The employer will assume that you are not serious about this job, not dependable and unable to manage your time properly.

However, don't come too early either, getting there at 2:00 for a 2:30 appointment is good, but this can be interpreted as insecurities or desperation.  Get there early, but instead of waiting at the office, head to a nearby restaurant or cafe to wait.  Chewing gum is a huge problem among teenagers, an employer is probably not going to like or even understand you when you are chewing gum.

Don't ever talk bad about past companies you've worked for, it makes you look like a complainer.  A hand shake can say a lot about a person's personality.  If your hand shake is fast it can make you look weak and insecure, always be cheerful, but at the same time serious, give a hand shake thats good and firm.  Don't forget to maintain eye contact during a hand shake.

First Impression,Very Important.

Over the years the number of people in search of a job has grown, which means the level of competitions for jobs has also grown.  Employers are going to choose people that are educated, have experience and, believe it or not, the one that looks more professional to them.

There are demanding employers that are looking for someone that will stay on task, someone that will be responsible and someone that will provide them with the best product/results for their money.  People often take the wrong route in terms of determining what they will wear to an interview, especially females.   Before deciding on what to wear, reflect on what your think your future boss or co-workers would wear to work.  Don't just go for the nicest outfit you have in your closet, choose an attire that's just right for your work environment.

Ladies, keep in mind that just because you have a dress that is cute and is the hottest fashion trend, it doesn't mean that its appropriate for work, it can be unprofessional.   For example, low cut dresses, they are not appropriate and gives others a bad impression of you.  Heavy make up is also a bad idea, when you go to your interview go for a lighter look with your make up.

Here are some tips to do your make up and what would be nice to wear for an interview.

Dream Careers, Possible?

Posted by: mirian

The main goal for many teens after high school is to become rich and famous, by becoming a famous singer, dancer, etc.  Lets take Justine Bieber as an example, if every high school graduate wants to be a Justin Bieber we'd have millions of Biebers in this world.   Realistically, it is really impossible for 100 Justin Biebers to become rich and famous?

Everybody has a dream career, however, many of these "careers" are not realistic.  To be able to become successful in what you want, you first need to set yourself goals that you can reach.   Many of the teens that are thinking of becoming the next "Justin Bieber" have poor grades and spends little to no time on homework, which will eventually lead to failure, to be harsh.  There is nothing wrong with a dream of one day becoming rich, you just need to be realistic of what you can achieve.

The 25 highest paid careers fall into 5 different categories, which includes:

  • Medical and Dental
  • Business, Technology and Management
  • Airline and Space
  • Law
  • Engineering and Science
What is important to realize about these career categories is that they are reachable goals, that anyone can achieve if they put in hard work, as for being a future "Justin Bieber" if that is truly your goal, then reach for them but know that if it doesn't work out there are always other choices.  It is never too late.
