Seniorities

Posted by: aparez

Tagged in: school

yellow tshirt - senioritis victimWhat is seniorities? Many believe is a lack of motivation of college bound students and other believe it is just laziness. There are about 8 weeks left of schools for many seniors and most of them already want to leave and explore the world, but we can not let this take over us since grades still matter of getting accepted to a college. Since there are many budget cuts colleges are taking the best of the best. Some colleges will even reject your letter of acceptance if just one F appears on your next report card. Colleges want students that are motivated to learn and won't give up even when the end of the tunnel is near.

Avoid the lazyness and keep on trying in all your classes. Have you seen senior wearing sweats, coming in baggy clothes, and not bringing in their material? Those are signs of seniorities and they get worse. ALso, for the Juniors don't let seniorities get the best of you since your not even seniors. Lets keep on doing our best till the very end.

Filling Out Scholarship Tips

Filling out scholarships can be  frustrating and confusing. Every scholarship has different requirements and different deadlines, but there are ways such a tedious process much more comfortable.

Read The Applications carefully

Every scholarship is different. There are few applications have the same requirements. One application may ask for 1000 word essay while another one may ask for a 500 word essay. It is important to read and get a full understanding of what is required before you submit your application. Otherwise it will be discarded and you would have wasted precious time.

You must prepare.

You probably will be applying for several scholarships in the hope of possibly going to school absolutely free. You don't want to wait until the last minute and throw together an essay or personal statement. Prepare in advance. Practice your personal statement. Start your doing scholarship research and start writing the rough draft of your personal statement 6 months before the deadline. Take time out  to work on it. This is very important stuff. You want to make sure yours stands out.

Work within the space you are given

They give you specific requirements for a reason. Pay attention to the word count and try to stay as close to as you can. Do the important stuff first then, if you have time, you can add extra elements to your application.

Give them what they want

Always give the provider of the scholarship exactly what they are asking for. If they are looking for someone with leadership skills then give them an example of your leadership skills. If they want someone with excellent writing skills then show that to them in your application. Use your personality traits to your advantage.

Explain why you want to study a particular subject

Try to be as concrete as possible to why you want to study in the field you are in. Many mess up in this step, but try to be as clear as possible as to why you want to major in a particular area.

Proofread

Before you mail off your application make sure you proofread it. Have someone else such as a teacher proofread it as well. They may catch something you might not. Make sure you are getting your message across very clear.

Cyberbulling

Nowadays, it is a very common that there is a computer in just about every household. This means that more and more kids are having access to the internet, are able to post information, and they can see more information as well. Even though there is more access to the internet how much are the parents actually aware of what their child does when they are online? Recently, there has been an increase in cyberbulling. This goes beyond the point of regular school yard bullying. It is information that is posted for everyone to see and will most likely remain uploaded forever.

hand reaching through a computer screen trying to grab someoneCyberbullying is when a child, preteen, or  teen is tormented, threatened, harassed, humiliated, embarrassed or otherwise targeted by another child, preteen or teen using the Internet, other technology based devices, or mobile phones. Cyberbulling  has to be e a minor on both sides, or  a minor against another minor. Once adults become involved, it is  cyber-harassment or cyberstalking.

The methods are only as much as the imagination of a child can offer. There is no one way to explain cyberbully and there is no saying who can be targeted and by whom. A cyberbully might eventually become a victim of cyberbully or visa versa. Cyberbulling can go to as much as children killing each other or suicide of the victim. Most of the language used are offensive and can really lower down a child's self esteem. Cyberbullying may result to misdemeanor cyberharrasment chages or juvenile delinquency.

What are the types of cyberbulling?kid at a computer tired

are done with messages sent to kids directly by the bully, blogs/websites posted about the victim, or anywhere where the bully can have direct conversation with the victim

Cyberbulling by proxy-is using others to help either with their consent or not. these include a broad range of people where people can read and start harassing the victim as well. Most of this is done by handing out private information to others and posting false statements about the victim.

Why do kids cyberbully each other?

There is no straight answer to why kids cyberbully one another.  Just  as every kid is different there are different reasons why a kid cyberbullies. The most common reason is because they are motivated by anger, want revenge, or are frustrated. There are others who do it because they are bored, have too much time in their hands, and have the technology.

How to stop it.

Cyberbulling is hard to stop since there is no one solution to this problem Each problem is different and methods to preventing it can differ. There can be methods of prevention that can help. One of the most common is done trough ISPs who have a way of telling on users who are saying inappropriate things and can kick someone offline for some time.  Another way, is by parents becoming more aware of what their children are doing when they are online and teaching them about respecting others.

More School Stuff! EOP

a sign with the words college boundThe deadline for submitting UC and CSU applications was November 30th, however, there are still some things to be done.  In the UC and CSU applications there was a box that asked if you would like to apply for EOP.  It is recommended for first generation students to check the box for yes.  Many UC and CSU ask for your e-mail address and will send out reminders of when the registration opens for EOP.  For most schools, EOP application is due on February 15, 2010 but they ask information about when you are planning to apply for FASFA and additional information.  EOP applications can be found on the UC's website or in CSU mentor.

So what is EOP?

A girl focusing on the lessonEOP stands for:  Educational Opportunity Program.  EOP is designed for students with exceptional academic ability and promise despite low-income and educational disadvantages.  EOP students have the potential and demonstrated motivation to perform well at a CSU or UC, but they have not been able to realize their potential because of their economic or educational background.  EOP gives admission and academic assistance to EOP undergraduate students.  In many cases the program offers financial help to eligible students.
